Scott Lyall has come full circle, starting with his career in the apparel business, following his Mother’s passion and owner of Helen Lyall clothes for women. Scott launched his first men’s clothing store, Scott Lyall clothes for men in 1981, in historical Benicia CA. With the four sucessful years and a strong local clientele, he ventured out and moved his store to the infamous Fillmore Street in San Francisco, CA. It was there , he made his mark and reputation for fine quality men’s fashions with an eye for style. His clientele consisted of professional athletes, TV celebrities, musicians and local socialites.

Due to the request from his major stores he found himself manufacturing private label apparel for their specific needs, timely production and affordable pricing. This became a full time venture adding to his clientele list Ann Taylor Loft and Esprit de’ Corp, so Scott closed his showroom at the Apparel Mart and catered to the needs of his clients. Ready for a change Scott decided to take a sabbatical from the world of fashion and return to his roots in his home town of Napa with his family.

With six years servicing San Francisco the Loma Prieta earthquake in October 1989 devastated the area for small a retail businesses. Scott made the decision to close the store and move forward to a different side of the apparel industry. He opened his wholesale showroom in San Francisco, at the Apparel Mart, representing women’s bridge designer apparel. Scott Lyall Sales’ reputes included leading stores such as; Macy’s West, Nordstrom’s, I. Magnin’s Fifth Floor, and numerous upscale specialty store in Northern California, Oregon and Washington.

Perfect for any occasion

A shift in Napa's economy combined with the growth of many local industries such as: wineries, restaurants, well known artists, the performing arts, and innovative retail concepts began changing Napa's landscape. This was most noticeable in the New Riverfront property in downtown Napa. This unmatched mix of upscale stores and restaurants has enticed Scott to reopen in Downtown Napa at Riverfront with Scott Lyall clothes for men, again offering a sophisticated mix of contemporary clothing for men. Scott Lyall has returned to his true love, the fashion industry.

Since his opening of Scott Lyall clothes for men in March of 2011, Scott has succeeded in capturing the clientele he set out to service. The focus of the store was to offer contemporary casual sportswear with innovation, color and style for a fashion conscious man with a sophisticated lifestyle. Along with the casual spirit of the clothing, is the ambience of the store as well. “I want the clientele to feel comfortable, relaxed and have fun.” It is not unusual, while shopping, to sit and watch the latest sports game on the large TV screen, or listen to a variety of funk, soul and R & B music while sipping a glass of wine and visit with Scott.

At your service

The one thing that is important to Scott in opening a small business in Napa was to give back and support the community and local charities. “Most of all our schools, I believe our children’s education, sports programs and arts and music programs should be our top priority,” Scott supports many of the school auctions, charity fashion shows and other fundraising venue’s by advertising, donating gift certificates or apparel. Scott plans on developing a program starting in the fall of 2012 to donate a percentage of his net sales to schools in support of their sports, arts and music programs.
